Identification, please!

800+ cichlid species in this rift lake

Identification, please!

Postby Cicko » Mon Apr 09, 2007 8:00 am

Hi to all!

I just stumbled upon this forum seeking for help in identification of the two Malawi cichlids I bought few weeks ago. They are still young, so that could be a bit difficult task. But, I hope that an experienced aquarist can help me out.

Here are the pics:

This one is a little blurry, but could help also

On this second photo, the fish in the front and the one on the first picture are the sme. And, on the second photo, both fish are of the same species (the one in the back could be a female on my opinion).

There was a good guess by one of my friends: Labidochromis sp. "Perlmutt", but I'm not sure of that...

Thank You very much in advance!

Greetz!

The first has at least some Labidichromis in it; unsure beyond that. Not Lab. species "perlmutt". The bars on "perlmutt" are less numerous and wider.

The second fish, Nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus
