The calvus will not compete as well for food with the Tropheus but should otherwise be able to hold their own. The only problem I forsee is the type of feed. The Tropheus would do much better pn several smaller daily feedings of a lower protein feed whereas a higher protein dry feed along with periodic feedings of live or frozen artemia would be best to condition calvus. The only feed which might work for both that I've read of success with is NLS; though even feeding this dry, the calvus would probably condition better with additional frozen or live feeds which would not be well suited to the Tropheus.
Both A. calvus and A. compressiceps are notorious slow growers. Feeding a higher protein feed with weekly - bi-weekly feedings of live or frozen feed will increase the growth rate, but they will still grow relatively slow.
